Mom Charged With Assaulting Brockton High Teacher Held On $3,000 Bail
BROCKTON (CBS) -- A mom facing multiple charges after she allegedly assaulted a Brockton High School teacher was ordered held on $3,000 bail during her arraignment on Thursday.
Carla Darosa, of Brockton, was also ordered to stay away from the high school. She has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, disturibing the peace, disorderly conduct and trespassing.
The incident happened during the school day on Wednesday, when Darosa allegedly snuck into the building after being denied access by the security desk, according to a statement released Thursday by Brockton Schools Superintendent Kathleen Smith.
"The parent made a decision to slip off into the building anyway while staff was contacting a housemaster to help her to make an appointment," reads the statement. "The parent found the teacher's classroom, confronted her and threatened her in front of a class full of students, thus disrupting the school day.
"The teacher acted appropriately by closing the door and immediately calling for assistance."
The superintendent says the school is open to one-on-one sessions between parents and teachers, but "no one is allowed to walk into the building without signing in, showing identification, gaining permission to be where they are asking to be, and then waiting for an escort to that area."
School officials say they will be reviewing their safety plan to see if any adjustments may need to be made in the future.
