MLS Playoffs: Revolution Clinch Top 3 Spot In The East

BOSTON (CBS) - Last night in Houston, the New England Revolution erased a 1-0 halftime deficit and earned a 2-1 win over the Dynamo.

The star of the game for the Revs was Lee Nguyen, who followed his game-tying goal in the 65th minute with the game winner in the 87th. Nguyen, the team's leading scorer, is now tied for fourth in MLS with 17 goals and is making a strong case to be MLS' Most Valuable Player.

With the win, New England (16-13-4, 52 points) avoided the Knockout Round between the four and five seeds and can finish no worse than third place in the Eastern Conference. The Revs have one game left in the regular season, an October 25th showdown versus Toronto FC at Gillette Stadium.

New England is three points behind Eastern Conference leader D.C. United and three points ahead of third-place Sporting Kansas City.

The Revs' big summer splash, Jermaine Jones, is paying huge dividends. The team boasts a 7-1-1 record since signing the World Cup star.
