Milford Home Collapses In Massive Early Morning Fire

MILFORD (CBS) - An intense fire tore through a home on Dominick Street in Milford early Saturday morning, leaving nothing more than a pile of rubble.

The fire was first reported around 4:00 a.m.

"I came out at 4 a.m. and the house was just - the downstairs was engulfed in flames. You could hear it buckling," neighbor Christine Larosa said. "It was pretty intense when it started and it just got more and more intense. It was scary."

When firefighters arrived, the flames had already burned through the roof.

The flames continued roaring, and the building collapsed just ten minutes into the firefight.

The family who lived at the home was not there at the time, and it does not appear that anyone was injured.

"Thank God nobody was home," Milford Fire Lt. Patrick Salmon told WBZ-TV.

Seven neighboring homes were also damaged, and two nearby vehicles were totaled.

Red Cross is helping the family.

State fire investigators have been called in to investigate the cause of the fire.
