Mike's Pastry Planning To Open New Shop In Harvard Square
BOSTON (CBS) -- Mike's Pastry, which has been providing an expansive assortment of sweet treats in the city's North End neighborhood for decades, is planning to expand to Harvard Square.
According to documents filed in Cambridge, Mike's Pastry is planning to open a new shop at 11 Dunster St. in Harvard Square.
The Harvard Square Advisory Committee is set to review a Board of Zoning Appeal special permit application for the proposed Dunster Street shop. The proposal requires a Fast Order Food Establishment Special Permit, according to a prepared statement from the Cambridge Community Development Department.
The advisory committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 27, at 5:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room of Cambridge City Hall, 344 Broadway.
Mike's Pastry has been a fixture on Hanover Street in the North End for years. The pastry shop's legacy is celebrated on the family business' website, www.mikespastry.com: "The streets of Boston's North End have been in no small part defined by the ongoing legacy of Annette and Mike, their ancestors and enormous extended family and the spirit and inspiration brought to the North End of Boston by this neighborhood-defining family."
