Mike Milbury On Sabres: Not Built To Play Physical Game
Claude Julien and the Bruins head into Buffalo with nine wins in a row under their belts. Last time these two teams met Milan Lucic ran into Sabres goalie Ryan Miller. Miller's teammates did not retaliate in that game, but many believe the team will look to get even with the Bruins tonight.
Former Bruins defenseman and current hockey analyst Mike Milbury spoke with Toucher & Rich about this meeting with Buffalo, Jeremy Roenick crying after Chicago won the Cup in 2010 and the Red Wings game the day after Thanksgiving.
When Roenick cried after the Blackhawks won the Cup Milbury was like I never won, but I'm not going to cry. What was going through his head at that time?
"I just thought lets have a little fun with this and move along as quickly as we could because we could have a puddle of tears on the national T.V. for more than ten second or so and have it be amussing," Milbury said.
Lucic was not suspended or fined for the hit on Miller and Miller was not pleased. Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said after that it would be open season on goalies in the NHL, but that never happened. What did Milbury think of the hit and the ruling on it? Also how does he see things going down tonight in Buffalo?
"I thought it was the right call, it was a two minute minor and they were both going for the puck. We want to have players that play hard like Lucic does and there's going to be contact and sometimes oh my God people will get hurt," Milbury said.
"If I'm the Sabres the best revenge is to go win the hockey game. They're not built to play a physical game, they don't have a number of physical players...Tonight I don't expect much really, the whole front office of the NHL is watching this game."
