BOSTON (CBS) - This morning, your windshield wipers will get a workout, and umbrellas will be in hand.

A cold front will continue its slow progress eastward today. There may be a few bright spots north and west of Boston that break through the cloud cover later this evening.

Highs will be in the lower to middle 60s near Cape Cod/Islands while inland areas can add on a few degrees with highs in the middle 60s to near 70.

Winds will gradually transition from the southeast to the north-northwest tonight. Skies will remain mostly to partly cloudy.  Patchy dense fog will develop.  Lows will be in the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Coastal communities are going to battle the cloud cover for part of Thursday as well.

Otherwise, it will be much brighter inland with highs in the lower to middle 70s while onshore winds will keep the coast at a cool 65-70.

Due to where a surface high and ridge will be setting-up late this week into the beginning of the weekend, the coast will be the areas with the coolest high temps.

Friday will include plentiful sunshine with a cool northeast breeze. Highs will be in the middle 70s, 60s at the coast.

Here is a look at the current models...

Father's Day weekend is still looking pleasant.

Whether you are treating Dad to a 'tee time' or taking him out on the boat or to the beach, you will be soaking in the sunshine.

Saturday will be mostly sunny with highs in the middle 70s, 65-70 at the coast.

Father's Day Sunday will be a repeat performance with highs slightly warmer inland as highs climb into the middle to upper 70s.

However, the coast will remain the coolest spot in our viewing area.
