Michael Vick Injured Against Patriots, X-Rays Negative
FOXBORO (CBS) -- The Eagles' plans to play all their starters into the third quarter on Monday night in New England changed rather quickly.
Michael Vick left the game early in the first quarter and never returned after taking a solid shot to the ribcage by Jermaine Cunningham. X-rays on Vick's ribs came back negative, but the team kept him out for the rest of the game.
The negative X-rays certainly provided a breath of fresh air for the Eagles, as the quarterback suffered broken ribs last season.
Vick suffered the injury less than nine minutes into the game. Patriots defensive tackle Kyle Love broke through the middle of the line and rushed toward Vick, who scrambled away from Love but toward Cunningham. As Vick launched a long pass to DeSean Jackson, Cunningham lowered his helmet and drove through Vick's ribs.
Trainers attended to Vick on the field, and after backup quarterback Nick Foles took one snap, Vick headed toward the locker room with the trainers.
