Mercury Rising

Surprise! Temperatures will be on the uphill swing as we head into the weekend.  We will reach the pinnacle of this stretch on Saturday before a cold front provides us with a respite from the heat and humidity. Temperatures are looking more 'normal' through much of next week.

Today will be a sun-filled day with afternoon cumulus popping up this afternoon, especially near the Merrimack Valley and Cape Ann.  Otherwise, a feeble seabreeze will keep coastal communities in the 70s. The remainder of the area will make it into the lower and middle 80s.

Friday will be another pretty day as high temps start to nudge their way closer to 90F. Cape Cod and the Islands will hover in the lower 80s. We may start to see some high clouds rolling into the region during the evening.  This will be our first indication that a cold front is nearing Southern New England.

Saturday will start with mostly cloudy skies. There will also be a chance of a few showers and storms, especially during the afternoon and evening. The cloud deck along with the showers and storms appear to stick around throughout the day at that point.

Sunday is going to be the tale of two different stories.  The way that the cold front will be moving due to the flat flow of the jetstream may keep it rather close for comfort. This could allow for lingering clouds for Southeastern Massachusetts.  Optimistically-speaking, I am forecasting mostly sunny skies north of the Pike and a cloud/sun mix for neighborhoods south of the Pike.  Highs temps will in the lower to middle 80s.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be comfortably dry and seasonably warm.

Beach and boating will be a 'biggie' this weekend so check out this link for the latest forecast.

If you're working this week, 'one alarm clock away'!
