Woman Dies After Being Hit By Car In Cambridge
CAMBRIDGE (CBS) – A 31-year-old woman who was hit by a BMW while crossing Memorial Drive in Cambridge Sunday night has died.
Molly Doub was hit by a car on the westbound side of the road around 5 p.m.
The driver of the 2009 BMW M5 stopped at the scene. Police have not yet determined if charges will be filed against the driver, whose identity has not been released.
Doub was rushed to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Sunday night in "extremely critical" condition but died overnight Wednesday.
She was a teacher at International School of Boston. School officials said they are "deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague."
"Molly was a well liked and respected Math teacher in our Upper School. Our thoughts are with the family and our first duty is to care for our students and our faculty and staff. We ask that people respect the privacy of our community in these difficult times," the school said in a statement.
Doub's father Douglas told WBZ-TV his daughter wanted to help other people as an organ donor, and she has with her heart, liver and lungs. He says she has already saved the lives of five recipients.
The 31-year old-Connecticut native moved to Cambridge two years ago to take a job as a math teacher at the International School of Boston. Her father says it was a good fit for the highly motivated teacher.
Now he awaits the results of the investigation into how the deadly accident happened.
"They are going to get as many facts as they can from witnesses, surveillance cameras, the car and her body," said Douglas Doub.
