BOSTON (CBS) - Just about everyone has some sort of outdoor plans over the next three days. This weekend is, after all, the unofficial kick-off to the summer vacation season.

So, whether your grillin' in the backyard or headed for the beach, we will do our best to break down this complex weekend of weather ahead.

Here are some things we know for sure…

-Saturday will be the pick of the weekend. It will be the warmest day and absolutely the day to head to the beach if you are trying to pick one day.

-No day is a complete washout. While there are some showers and storms in the forecast, they will be scattered for the most part and should not be long lasting

-Temperatures will be above normal all three days. What is normal you ask? Low 70's are average for late May. Highs this weekend, though, will range from the mid 70's into the 80's with the exception of the coastline, where onshore winds on Sunday and Monday will make it cooler.

So those are the headlines, now for the nitty gritty…

SATURDAY

Saturday will start off murky in the early morning, so if you wake up before 8 a.m. and things look a bit cloudy and gray, don't worry, sunshine is on the way!

The last locations to clear will be the coastline, especially Cape Cod, where it may take until nearly midday to completely clear out.

Saturday will feel like mid-summer but with less humidity than we have had the last few days. High temperatures will soar well into the 80's and likely flirt with 90 degrees in a few spots.

It should be a sparkling, warm day from Mountaintop to Sea Shore. As for the chances of any showers or storms, they are very low (about 10%).

SUNDAY

Sunday will be an altogether different day. As early as Sunday morning, we will start to see some clouds spilling into New England from the Upper Midwest. The warm southwest winds of Saturday will switch to a southeast direction (onshore), cooling the coastline and limiting our high temperature potential inland as well.

Temperatures should average out in the mid 70's away from the coast and 65-70 degrees right at the beaches. Precipitation is a tough call, but the majority of it should hold off until later in the day. Clouds will thicken by midday and showers and storms from the Midwest will dampen our area by late afternoon or evening.

I should mention that some of our weather models are indicating that this process could be sped up and bring wet weather in as early as Sunday morning, but currently we still feel that the most likely scenario would be for rain to hold off until later Sunday.

MONDAY - MEMORIAL DAY

Memorial Day looks as though it may start off cloudy with some leftover showers from Sunday night. Most weather models indicate that we should see some sun breaking out during the day on Monday.

So for now, it appears that the second half of Monday would be the better half with just a chance of a pop up shower or storm in the afternoon (scattered).

Temperatures will be a touch warmer than Sunday, especially inland where we are forecasting mid to upper 70's. The coastline will continue with onshore breezes and stay some 5-10 degrees cooler.
