Meet the "Big Shamrock"

Shaq looks over the sea of reporters (AP)

Shaquille O'Neal met the Boston media Tuesday for the first time as a member of the Boston Celtics.

He signed a two-year contract worth about $3 million last week and was formally introduced at the team's facility in Waltham Tuesday morning.

Coach Doc Rivers presented Shaq with his new Celtics jersey with the number 36. Asked why number 36, "I've always been in the 30's," Shaq said. "This is the sixth team that I'm with, so 36."

Shaq is looking for his fifth NBA title. He won three with the Lakers and one with Miami.

O'Neal said he had a conversation with Rivers in Italy earlier this summer and realized this will likely be the final stop in his 18-year NBA career.

What about a nickname? "So far I like the Big Shamrock", O'Neal said.
