Hit-And-Run Driver Slams Into Medford Family Walking Dog, Seriously Injuring One

MEDFORD (CBS) – Massachusetts State Police said a hit-and-run driver slammed into a Medford family that was out walking their dog, leaving one of the victims with serious injuries.

Police said the family was walking the 3-year-old French bulldog in a parking lot on Mystic Ave on Saturday around 9:05 p.m., approaching the sidewalk on the southwest side of the road.

A 2018 Chevy Trax left the road, crossed over the sidewalk and hit the group before leaving the scene.

The impact sent a 52-year-old airborne, leaving him with serious injuries. A 15-year-old boy suffered minor injuries.

Both were taken to Mass General Hospital and are expected to survive.

A third person, an adult woman, declined medical attention.

The dog suffered minor injuries. A neighbor took her to a Woburn animal hospital.

"I heard a woman screaming. Other people in the parking lot heard a woman screaming as well," said Anthony Brennan, who was cleaning Atlas Liquor Store at the time.

"The screaming was pretty frightening. I can't even fathom that. I can't imagine anybody leaving somebody that's been injured," said a woman who lives nearby.

A Chevy Trax was found about a mile from the scene on Early Ave. State Police said the car matched camera footage and had damage consistent with the crash. Pieces found at the scene matched missing pieces of the car.

No arrests have been made.
