McDaniels Focused On Ravens Following Weekend Interviews

BOSTON (CBS) -- Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels had a busy weekend, chatting with a couple of teams about their head coaching vacancies.

McDaniels interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons on Friday and San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, as his current team enjoyed their playoff bye week.

"They were fine. It's part of the process," McDaniels said of the interviews on a Monday morning conference call. "Obviously it's a privilege when anyone wants to speak with you about anything like that. At this point, I've moved on and hopefully can help us put together a great plan for our guys heading into this week."

When further pressed if moving on meant he has taken his name out of consideration, McDaniels said he is putting all his focus on Saturday's AFC Divisional Round matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.

"I just had an initial meeting with them and it hasn't really gone any further in either direction. So, again, I'm back to focusing on the next task at hand for us, which is the Ravens," he said. "I'm sure they'll do what they need to do on their end. I'm sure those things will take care of themselves in the future."

McDaniels, who also interviewed with the Cleveland Browns for their head coaching vacancy last offseason, had an unsuccessful head coaching stint with the Denver Broncos from 2009-2010, going 11-17 in his two seasons in charge before being let go midway through the 2010 campaign. He went back to an assistant role with the St. Louis Rams in 2011, and returned to New England as an offensive assistant during the team's 2011–12 playoff run. The following season, he was back as the team's offensive coordinator, the role he filled from 2006-2008.

McDaniels started his NFL coaching career as a personnel assistant for the Patriots in 2001.
