McCain, Cleland Make Appearances In Brown-Warren Race
BOSTON (AP & CBS) — Republican U.S. Sen. Scott Brown and Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren are campaigning with some well-known figures, focusing in part on veterans' issues.
Sen. John McCain of Arizona appeared with Brown at a Saturday morning rally in Melrose. The two spent an hour talking to a large crowd at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial building.
McCain mentioned his campaign stops for several candidates around the country but noted his work with Brown over the past few years as the reason he made the trip to Massachusetts.

"This man is the one I want most in the United States Senate working side by side with me," said McCain.
Warren called on former Sen. Max Cleland of Georgia, who, like McCain, is a decorated Vietnam veteran. Cleland lost his legs and an arm in that war. McCain has lingering physical effects from more than five years as a prisoner of war. Warren and Cleland held a midday rally in Beverly.
"I've got 3 older brothers. All 3 served in the military," Warren told her crowd of supporters. "I came to understand that our military folks and their families are tough, smart and resourceful."
Warren stuck to her campaign message of being tough on the financial industry, blasting bad products sold to military members.
"Our vets make a sacred commitment to us," said Warren. "We have to make a sacred commitment to our vets and that means honoring our promises to them."
Brown and McCain took aim at the Veterans Administration, saying it takes too long to process a claim. Brown serves as a colonel in the Army National Guard. He asked military members to turn out for him on Election Day.
"Do not go to bed on November 6th wishing you had done more!" said Brown.
