McAdam On Toucher & Rich: Why Move Ellsbury?
Now that the season is over for the Red Sox the guys focus on moves that can make the team on the field better.
Sean McAdam joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich to discuss how the team could get better and possibly trading Jacoby Ellsbury.
McAdam believes that the chances of getting a contract extension done with Jacoby Ellsbury before he becomes a free agent after next season are slim.
"My idea is to move him this winter and get something back, either a pitcher or in the case of Texas, Elvis Andrus who's under control for two more years would be a nice bridge between now and the arrival of Xander Bogaerts."
So if the Sox make the move for shortstop Andrus does that mean they don't believe that Jose Iglesias is the shortstop of the future?
"At the very least they have to have some questions about what his future is offensively. He hasn't gotten a whole lot better at the plate, there's no question that defensively he could play shortstop in the big leagues right now."
Plus the guys went through McAdam's end of the year report card and went over all the players that he gave failing grades.
