MBTA Police Track Down Owner Of Cash-Filled Envelope Found On Bus
BOSTON (AP) — A Boston bus driver said he didn't think twice when a passenger handed him an envelope with more than $1,100 in it that she had found unattended.
Kevin White says he just wanted to make sure the rightful owner got it back.
The envelope was handed to White as he drove his regular Cambridge-to-Belmont route on Monday. He handed it into his supervisor at the end of his shift.
Transit police worked with Cambridge Savings Bank to identify the owner, described only as a Watertown man.
The 48-year-old White, who's been driving for the MBTA for two years, says anyone with that much money must need it for a good reason and he was just doing his job.
