The 5:20 p.m. train developed engine trouble and had to be pushed to the South Acton stop. From there, everyone was told to get off. It resulted in a three-hour delay and a lot of angry commuters.

State senator Thomas McGee is the co-chair of the Transportation Committee.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Laurie Kirby asked him Friday if it's time for a change in management on the commuter rail.

"There's been discussions with both the administration and the leaders of the T about holding their feet to the fire and we need to do that," he said.

"All of this is happening fairly quickly, so I'm not going to make a statement today saying 'Hey let's dump them today," but I think we all need to sit at the table and find out – are they able to continue to meet the requirements under the contract."

A spokesman for the commuter rail said the train in question didn't have a history of problems. They're going to test it to find out exactly what went wrong.
