Mazz To Don Shula On Spygate: Let It Go
BOSTON (CBS) - Forget the TV show, sometimes it's old people who say the darndest things.
Former Dolphins head coach Don Shula called Bill Belichick "Beli-cheat" in a recent interview with the Sun Sentinel in South Florida when the Patriots head coach's name was brought up.
Shula's 1972 Dolphins remain the only team in NFL history to have a perfect season. Belichick's 2007 Patriots -- well, you know how that one ended.
98.5 The Sports Hub's Mike Felger and Tony Massarotti weighed in Thursday afternoon, and they think it's about time Shula gets over it.
"What do you think of that, Mazz?" Felger asked his esteemed co-host.
"I think Don Shula is a penis," Tony said as he burst out in laughter. "Seriously! 85 years old! Like, get over yourself! What's he got against Belichick now? What's the history? I'm not saying Belichick was right to do what he did, but Don Shula, one of the greatest coaches in the history of the game -- 85 years old -- on his own decides to chime in with 'Beli-cheat?'"
Don Shula is the NFL's all time-winningest coach with 328 career wins with the Baltimore Colts (1963-69) and Miami Dolphins (1970-95). Belichick would need to average 11.7 wins over the next decade to tie Shula in that category.
Shula may have a perfect season and more wins (and steakhouses) on his résumé, but Belichick (3) has more rings as a head coach than Shula (2).
