Mayor Walsh's Chief Of Staff Proposes At Boston Marathon Finish Line
BOSTON (CBS) – There was plenty of excitement for Dan Koh and Amy Sennett on Boylston Street. And not only because they finished the 2015 Boston Marathon.
Koh, the Chief of Staff for Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, got down on one knee at the finish line to propose to Sennett after they both completed the race.
Sennett said yes, and the pair shared a kiss and embrace after running 26.2 miles in cold, rainy conditions.
Both Sennett and Koh ran this year's Boston Marathon as a part of Team MR8, which honors bombing victim Martin Richard.
In addition to her ring, Sennett was also presented with flowers – and plenty of cheers from the finish line crowd.
Walsh was holding the ring for Koh when he crossed the finish line.
Lost Ring Returned To Runner
Koh wasn't the only runner with a ring story at this year's marathon. Runners often look out for each other and such was the case for Jeff Glaser from Austin, Texas. He lost his wedding ring, but another runner found it on the course.
Glaser said he took off his gloves at Mile 23 and another runner said he thought Glaser's ring came off, which it had.
Glaser said he spent seven to eight minutes searching for his wedding ring. He said nearby National Guard troops helped look too. He couldn't find the ring and started running again.
Later on another runner found the ring and gave it to a nurse at the finish line and she handed-it to John Anderson, who makes announcements in the medical tent.
After announcements and several hours, Glaser's wife heard about the found ring. The ring was returned to its rightful owner.
Glaser and his wife will be married eight years in July.
This was his 6th Boston Marathon and even with stopping for several minutes he ran a 3:13.
