Massport To Study Impact Of Future Storms On Logan Airport
BOSTON (AP) — The operator of Logan International Airport has begun a study on how the airport and other facilities the agency runs could be affected by future rises in sea levels, storm surges and intense storms.
Massport says the study is looking at the expected number and intensity of future storms and assessing the vulnerability of Massport facilities, including the airport, Port of Boston and other waterfront real estate. The agency says that way, it can better anticipate problems.
Massport chief executive Thomas Glynn said the "resiliency planning" is critical to helping the agency cut down on possible damages from storms or recover from damages that can't be avoided.
Massport's board was briefed on the study Thursday.
