Massport Released From 9/11 Lawsuit
NEW YORK (AP) - A New York judge has released the Massachusetts Port Authority from the last pending wrongful death lawsuit related to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein announced the dismissal on Wednesday in Manhattan.
The suit was filed by Mary Bavis, whose son died in the attacks. She alleged hijackers were able to board United Airlines Flight 175 in Boston because of negligence by Massport, which runs Logan International Airport.
Mark Bavis died when his plane crashed into the World Trade Center's south tower. He was a scout for the Los Angeles Kings hockey team.
The airline and a security company are still part of the lawsuit.
