MassChallenge Finalists Named
"The applicant pool this year came from about 40 countries and 30 U.S. states," said MassChallenge Founder and President Akhil Nigam. "The reach is increasing every year."
Of the original group of entrants, Nigam says MassChallenge invited about 330 companies to pitch them in person. Some of the international groups made their presentations through Skype.
Nigam says the finalists represent a wide range of ideas. They range from creating new ways to fight diseases , to new advertising technology, to safer homebuilding insulation ideas.
All of the finalists get their own mentors and free office space in the Seaport District for the next four months as they develop their ideas into full business plans and presentations and products.
$1 million in awards will be announced this October.
