Massachusetts Taking Applications For Medical Marijuana Dispensaries
BOSTON (AP) — State health officials are making preliminary applications available for nonprofit medical marijuana dispensaries in Massachusetts.
A law approved by voters last November allows for up to 35 dispensaries across the state to provide marijuana for people with certified medical conditions such as cancer, Parkinson's Disease and AIDS.
The state Department of Public Health reported Friday it would use a two-step application process for selecting dispensary operators.
Phase 1 applicants will be subject to background checks and be checked for financial viability. Those who clear the initial screening can then move on to Phase 2 of the process, in which a selection committee will review final applications.
The applications are available at www.comm-pass.com and must be submitted by Aug. 22. Applicants must submit a non-refundable $1,500 submission fee.
