REVERE (CBS) -- A drunk motorcyclist is facing several charges after hitting a Massachusetts State Trooper near Revere Beach on Saturday, police say.

State Police say the trooper had gotten out of his cruiser after making a traffic stop when he was struck by the motorcycle on Revere Beach Boulevard around 5:30 p.m.

The motorcyclist also struck a car before trying to run away from police. Officers quickly took him into custody.

The unidentified trooper was taken by ambulance to Massachusetts General Hospital. As of Saturday night, he remained at the hospital where he is undergoing tests for head and upper body injuries, police say.

Danilo Diroche, 26, of Lynn, who was driving a 2005 Yamaha motorcycle, was taken to Whidden Hospital with unknown injuries.

He was charged with operating under the influence of liquor, leaving the scene of a crash that caused personal injury, failure to stop for police, marked lanes violation, operating to endanger, speeding, unsafe passing and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
