Massachusetts Ranks Sixth Among States For LGBT-Friendliness
BOSTON (CBS) -- Massachusetts was the first state to legalize same-sex marriage, but it may not be as gay-friendly as you think.
A new ranking puts the Commonwealth just sixth among states when it comes to having laws and policies friendly to the LGBT community.
The report from the Movement Advancement Project puts California, Oregon, Vermont, Washington and New Jersey ahead.
The least-friendly state for the LGBT population? Louisiana.
The report considered factors like gay marriage and relationship recognition, adoption policies, non-discrimination laws and rights for transgender people.
