Mass. Tornado Rated An EF-3, Third Highest On Wind Damage Scale
BOSTON (CBS) – The National Weather Service has declared one of Wednesday's tornadoes in Massachusetts an EF-3, the third highest ranking in terms of damage, with wind speeds from 136-to-165 miles per hour.
The NWS statement said the EF-3 rating applies to "the tornado that passed from Westfield through Springfield and eastward to Monson and beyond."
They hope to have more information late Friday evening.
165 mile-an-hour winds would equal a Category 5 hurricane, the most serious of hurricanes.
