Mass. Shoppers Stock Up On Supplies Ahead Of Major Snowstorm
BOSTON (CBS) - Shoppers wasted little time making their way to grocery and home improvement stores ahead of the potentially historic snowstorm Monday night.
"I'm getting ready to do my commute tomorrow an hour away," shopper Micki Dupnik told WBZ-TV's Paul Burton.
"I got a shovel to put in my car and a flashlight in case anything happens but I'm planning on working from home on Tuesday."
JoAnn Nesdekidis was one of many shoppers to stock up on groceries at the Market Basket in Waltham on Sunday.
She bought some of the usual storm fare: milk, cereal, bread, fruit and a few other items in case the power goes out.
Business was booming at the grocery store.
"They're buying anything that's not nailed to the shelf right now," said Market Basket employee Mike Dunleavy.
"You want to be prepared for an emergency so you've got your batteries and your staple products: bread, milk, juice, waters in case it gets real bad and you can't get out to a supermarket again."
At the Home Depot in Brighton, there was a shortage on salt bags.
Shovels and sand were some of the items selling quickly at the store.
