Tractor-Trailer Crashes Shut Down Mass Pike During Nor'easter
CHARLTON (CBS) – Several crashes involving tractor-trailers snarled traffic on the Mass Pike during the blizzard Tuesday.
All lanes of the Pike eastbound were briefly closed Tuesday morning after a tractor-trailer jackknifed at the Oxford-Charlton town line.
Massachusetts State Police reported the crash just after 8 a.m. No one was injured.
Photos show the tandem tractor-trailer unit stretched across the snowy highway. A wrecker cleared the scene just before 9 a.m., police said.
Almost two feet of snow fell in parts of Massachusetts on Tuesday.
MassDOT reduced the speed limit on the Pike to 20 mph from Boston to the New York border.
Later in the day another tractor-trailer crashed on I-290 east in Shrewsbury, closing all lanes.
Six vehicles, including a State Police cruiser and tractor trailer, were involved in a crash near Exit 10 on the Pike Eastbound in Charlton later in the afternoon. Paramedics took the trooper to UMass Memorial Hospital. There is no word on the trooper's condition.
In Millbury, two tractor-trailers collided, closing all westbound lanes at about 12:30 p.m.
