Mass. National Guard Soldiers Sent To NY To Help With Sandy Relief
BOSTON (CBS) - Soldiers from the Massachusetts National Guard have been sent to New York City to assist with relief efforts following Hurricane Sandy.
The Massachusetts National Guard has sent more than 120 military police from the 772nd and 747th Military Police Companies to help.
Twelve Soldiers from the 126th Brigade Support Battalion have also been called up to provide refueling tankers and logistics planning in New York.
The Guard is expected to stay in Brooklyn as long as support is needed.
"Our Relief and recovery operations are being refocused to assist the storm-ravaged communities of New York," said Maj. Gen. L. Scott Rice, The Adjutant General, Massachusetts National Guard. "I'm very proud of the hard work our soldiers and airmen put in on behalf of the citizens of the Commonwealth. I'm confident these soldiers we now send to New York will be just as dedicated to assist our neighboring state during their time of need."
