Mass. Man Towing Black Bear On ATV Crashes
NEW HAMPTON (NH) -- A Massachusetts man was seriously injured Sunday after his ATV carrying a black bear he hunted had crashed.
Tom Bonnell, 75, of Ayer, was driving down Ossipee Mountain when the ATV rolled over, launching him down the steep terrain.
Emergency crews carried Bonnell 150 yards to a main road. He was then taken to a nearby airport and airlifted to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital for treatment.
Bonnell wasn't wearing a helmet, officials said. His injuries are considered non-life threatening.
NH Fish & Game Conservation Officers took custody of the harvested bear.
