Transportation Secretary Richard Davey blamed age and corrosion for the light fixture collapse.

He says inspectors were out overnight looking at the remaining 18 light fixtures.

"We removed an additional seven lights last night," he said, "three of the seven out of an abundance of caution. They were showing beginning signs of wear."

Davey says the four others just needed light bulbs changed.

Davey said the DOT will be replacing all of those lights within the next year. The project will cost less than $100,000.

Officials don't believe the lights pose any danger.
