Mass. Democratic Chair Apologizes For Calling Scott Brown 'Honorary Girl'
BOSTON (CBS) - Massachusetts Democratic Party Chairman John Walsh set off a controversy Monday by referring to Senator Scott Brown as "an honorary girl."
"We've got to say a few good things about him: He handsome, right? He's still got the coat. He's still got the truck. He's a regular guy," Walsh was quoted as saying.
"I mean, he spent a couple million dollars folding towels on TV to prove he's an honorary girl. We appreciate that."
Walsh made the comment during a breakfast for Massachusetts delegation members attending the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.
He was referring to a campaign ad where Brown is pictured folding laundry.

Brown, who spoke after marching in Marlboro's Labor Day parade Monday, took offense to the comment.
"They're going after me and my family and talking about my contributions for making it work," Brown told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.
"That's okay; it's a badge of honor."
Brown, who is currently in a heated contest to hold onto his U.S. Senate seat, called the comments a sign of desperation.
"I think it's sad that he would criticize and belittle my relationship with my wife and the same with many men who contribute to the family unit," Brown added.
Brown's opponent in the race, Elizabeth Warren, also criticized the comments, but added a different spin.
"I think (Walsh) missed the mark. Scott Brown is someone who voted against equal pay for equal work; he voted to block women's access to health insurance for birth control," Warren said.
Walsh later apologized for the comment, saying he got caught up in the moment.
