Mass. Casino Panel Reviews Suffolk Down's Background
BOSTON (AP) — Operators of the Suffolk Downs thoroughbred race track will soon learn whether they can move forward with a bid to win the sole eastern Massachusetts casino license.
The five-member state gambling commission is expected to decide on Tuesday whether Suffolk Downs is suitable to host a casino after reviewing a background check conducted by commission staff.

The track ended a partnership with Caesars Entertainment earlier this month after being briefed by regulators on a number of issues that had surfaced during the background check, which is required of all gambling applicants in Massachusetts.
Suffolk Downs has said it hopes to choose a new casino partner shortly.
The meeting on Tuesday comes one week before residents of East Boston and Revere are scheduled to hold votes on the casino proposal.
