Mass. Artist's Taylor Swift Bubble Gum Tribute Wins National Contest
ANDOVER (CBS) -- Chew on this, Swifty haters.
Andover artist Rob Surette has found yet another unique way to immortalize a famous entertainer -- this time, it involved Taylor Swift and 17,625 gumballs.
Surette's portrait of the popular singer was voted the winner in Ripley's Believe It or Not! Unbelieveable RipCycle Art Contest.
He won $2,000 for his masterpiece. The portrait becomes part of the Ripley's collection. It will also be featured in the next Ripley's annual book and in the "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" cartoon.
He says he spent an hour every day this summer crafting the recycled work of art, one gumball at a time. The portrait only contains the colors white, black, dark blue, light blue, green, red, pink and yellow.
Another Mass. resident, Tyler Perry, took second place for his sculpture made from engine parts and other pieces of scrap metal.
