Armed Ex-Employee Robs Hollister Store In North Dartmouth Mall
DARTMOUTH (CBS) – A man wearing a mask burst out of the dressing room, pulled a gun, ordered everyone on the floor and wanted cash.
It was a terrifying moment inside the Hollister at the Dartmouth Mall just after closing Wednesday night during the bustling holiday shopping season. Police say that's when 26-year-old Michael Killory hid inside the store where he used to work, threw on a mask, pulled a gun on some former co-workers and stole the deposit bag full of cash.
The Problem is a worker recognized Killory as he took off out a back door. Dartmouth Police Detective Robert Levinson adds, "One of the employees followed him and was able to see his face because the defendant had removed the ski mask and pointed the gun at the employee, and told him to get back into the store and that's when the employee recognized this person."
WBZ-TV's Kathy Curran reports
Brian Rebelo works in retail he says he can't imagine having a gun pulled on him by a masked man. "I think it's pretty scary but as long as no-one's hurt that's awesome. It's tough times but that doesn't justify anything."
Investigators say it was a well planned heist until Killory high tailed it out the door. Detective Levinson explains, "He concealed himself for a period of time until the store was closed so he would only have to deal with the employees and not a crowd but he revealed himself a little too early perhaps."
Killory is still on the loose. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Police say he lives in New Bedford, drives a gray, 2004 Chevy Aveo with Massachusetts plate 8HS780. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
Police say this robbery is not connected to a similar robbery at the Wrentham Outlets Tuesday night.
