Bruno Sanches Dejesus Charged With Raping Woman On Ferry From Martha's Vineyard To Woods Hole
FALMOUTH (CBS) - A Dorchester man is accused of raping a woman on a ferry from Martha's Vineyard to Woods Hole.
According to Massachusetts State Police, 20-year-old Bruno Sanches Dejesus sexually assaulted the 18-year-old woman on the Steamship Authority ferry Monday afternoon.
Prosecutors said Dejesus met the woman on the main deck and they went down to his truck and he allegedly raped her. A defense attorney for Dejesus said there is no evidence of force and the woman went to the truck willingly.
Prosecutors said Dejesus brutally attacked the woman, pushing her against the wall and throwing her to the ground.
After the ferry docked, Dejesus left as a passenger in a commercial box truck. Dejesus is a subcontractor and does not work at Kam Appliances. He had finished deliveries on Martha's Vineyard and was heading to Wood's Hole.
The woman told a Steamship Authority employee who notified a State Trooper, and police sent out a description of the truck. A State Trooper found it on Route 28 north in Falmouth and stopped it. They later seized it and processed it for evidence.
Dejesus was charged with two counts of rape.
Following his arraignment Tuesday in Falmouth District Court, Dejesus was ordered held on $25,000 cash bond.
