Martha's Vineyard Businesses Ready To Cash In On Obama's Vacation

OAK BLUFFS (CBS) - As the First Family prepares for their summer vacation on Martha's Vineyard, island businesses are ready to cash in.

At South Beach Apparel in Oak Bluffs, the store has sold some 18,000 "I vacationed with Obama" t-shirts over the years when the First Family is in town.

A presidential vacation is something many merchants look forward to.

"It's our little stimulus," said Todd Rebello, the owner of South Beach Apparel.

Down the street at Sharky's Cantina, the annual Obama-inspired margarita with a nod to the president's Hawaiian roots, is back on the menu board. The drink, called an Obamarita, includes pineapple juice and mandarin.

"Once we put it on the menu board...it's one of our top-selling margaritas," said bartender Brittany Andelin.

At Nancy's Restaurant, which is usually a routine visit by the president, owner Joe Moujabber says last year the restaurant had 15 minutes notice the president was on his way.

Moujabber is hoping for another visit this year.
