Marlon Byrd Starting In Center, Batting Ninth For Red Sox
BOSTON (CBS) – The Red Sox will start their three-game series in Minnesota with a new center fielder.
Marlon Byrd, acquired over the weekend from the Chicago Cubs, will bat ninth and play center for the Red Sox as they kick off their seven-game road trip against the Twins.
Byrd was brought in to help ease the blow of losing Jacoby Ellsbury to an injured shoulder. Byrd was just 3-for-43 with Chicago with no extra base hits before joining Boston.
