Wake For Marine Captain Ross Reynolds Held At Leominster City Hall
LEOMINSTER (CBS) – A line wrapped around Leominster City Hall Monday as the public paid their respects for fallen Marine Captain Ross Reynolds.
"Every little thing we do matters. It helps you heal because it helps you feel like you're giving to someone else," Reverend Robin DiPrima Koroskenyi told WBZ-TV.
It was an emotional day for Capt. Reynolds family. His wake was held in the heart of his hometown of Leominster.
"We wanted to be there for the family and I'm sure it did have impact on his family. They must feel proud Leominster came out this way for them," said Alan Swartz, who traveled from Fitchburg.
Those who didn't know the military pilot wanted to stop by and show gratitude to this young solider for paying the ultimate sacrifice.
"Just here for the family and to thank Captain Ross for laying down his life for us and our freedom," said DiPrima Koroskenyi.
The city's Mayor Dean Mazzarella knew Capt. Reynolds since he was a boy scout and says the outpouring of support has been a source of comfort for the fallen soldier's family.
"Just speaking with the family... it's beyond what they could comprehend. Very emotional, but very appreciative," he said.
It's also a way for this tight knit city to mourn together.
"And we'll be there as we go forward," said Swartz. "This doesn't end when this is over."
Capt. Reynolds will be buried in a private ceremony Tuesday surrounded by family in military honor.
