Marcus Smart Ejected In Orlando For Throwing Elbow
BOSTON (CBS) - Celtics rookie Marcus Smart earned a flagrant-2 foul and was ejected from the game Sunday in Orlando in the final minute of a 103-98 loss.
Smart's elbow crept a little too high and caught Elfrid Payton in the face on a drive to the basket.

Smart was called for the offensive foul on the play, but after video review the officials determined the infraction warranted a flagrant-2, which calls for an immediate ejection.
"I was just making a basketball play to the rim," Smart told reporters after the game.
A flagrant-2 foul is defined by the league as "unnecessary and excessive contact committed by a player against an opponent." The league has the ability to review the foul afterwards and reclassify it. If the flagrant-2 stands, Smart will be subject to fine and/or suspension.
