Marchand Absent From Bruins Practice
BOSTON (CBS) - Most of the Boston Bruins were back on the ice Monday morning after getting Sunday off, but forward Brad Marchand was not one of them.
Marchand suffered a shoulder injury when he crashed into the boards during the second period in Saturday night's 1-0 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. He sat out the third period in what head coach Claude Julien said was a precautionary move, and that is likely the case on Monday as well.
Julien said Monday that Marchand was "progressing very well," and that he hasn't been ruled out for Wednesday's game against Montreal.
Marchand currently leads the Bruins with five goals -- including the team's only short-handed score.
Also missing from Monday's practice at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington was center David Krejci, who also sat out practice on Friday for a maintenance day.
Forward Daniel Paille was back on the ice after missing Saturday night's game with an upper body injury he suffered in Boston's 7-4 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.
The Bruins only have three games week days; Wednesday night in Montreal against the Canadiens, Saturday afternoon at home against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Sunday in Buffalo against the Sabres.

The lockout-shortened 48-game schedule really picks up for Boston at the end of February and into March, so it will be important for any injured players -- no matter how severe the injury -- to get their rest in while they can.
