Marathon Bombing Survivor Gets New Leg For High Heels
WARWICK, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island victim of the Boston Marathon bombings is getting a new "high-definition" prosthetic leg that will allow her to wear her favorite high heels.
Heather Abbott will be showing off the new leg on Thursday at the Warwick offices of Next Step Bionics and Prosthetics. The Newport resident lost her left leg in the April 15 bombing.
She already has other prosthetic legs, including a running leg and one that allows her to go in the ocean.
Next Step President Matthew Albuquerque says Abbott's new leg looks incredibly realistic.
He says it will help Abbott get back to doing some of the things she did before her amputation.
Albuquerque says Abbott told him she plans to wear a skirt on Thursday, something she hasn't done since the bombing.
