Man's Invention May Be Solution To Pothole Mayhem

Potholes are a sure sign that winter is taking a toll on vehicles, and the damage adds ups.
While it's sometimes hard to avoid hitting those potholes, drivers wonder why it takes so long to fix them.
Timothy from Wakefield wrote: "I am Curious why I keep hitting those potholes in Chelsea."
One man explains there is a new tool that could be the cure for those nasty potholes.
"This is the first real tool that can solve this problem," said Loyed Woodland with Brockton's Pothole Medic.
Woodland says after 12 years of tinkering and a quarter of a million dollars invested, he's invented a system that patches potholes permanently.
He says his invention is the only one like it in the world. He explains that his method takes only about 15 minutes to patch a pothole.
The magic tool is a truck that the driver never has to get out of. A lever boom in front of the truck does all the work by blowing out the pothole and fills the pothole with asphalt.
Woodland says his method of filling potholes is similar to how a dentist fills a cavity.
So why would a man commit so many years of his life to solving the pothole problem?
"I hit one of the potholes in the city of Brockton here and I cracked my tooth. This here is a false tooth," Woodland pointed out. "I said right here, there has got to be a better way."
Woodland has contracted with 50 cities and towns in Massachusetts. He recently signed on with the state to do some patch work.
