WOBURN (CBS/AP) - The hunt is on for as many as three suspects who fled the scene of a terrifying police shooting in Woburn Tuesday.
Officer Robert DeNapoli, 51, was shot multiple times during an attempted jewelry store robbery. One suspect was also wounded and was later arrested, but the others escaped.

DeNapoli was taken to the Lahey Clinic, where he is being treated for gunshot wounds in both legs and an arm. He is listed in good condition.
Dozens of police cruisers from Woburn, surrounding towns and state police rushed to the scene, about 15 miles north of Boston.

Police conducted door-to-door searches around the neighborhood. Officers dressed in bulletproof gear were seen riding in armored vehicles, with their rifles drawn.
FBI agents have also joined the investigation, trying to determine whether the robbery matches other incidents that have occurred elsewhere in the nation, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone said.
"This is a manhunt and it won't stop until we have every suspect in custody," Leone said.
One of the three suspects is believed to be a woman. The owner of Musto Jewelers told a worker at a neighboring store that he recognized the woman, and let her in. He says he did not realize that this time she had come with armed robbers.
Investigators do not have a reason to believe the suspects are still in the area, Leone told reporters Monday, warning Woburn residents to remain cautious.
He declined to release additional details on the suspect or his alleged accomplices.
"We can't be certain as to where the suspect is now," Leone said, adding that investigators are concerned about the suspect hiding in the area around Woburn.
Investigators were searching for a possible getaway car, but Leone declined to share details on what kind of vehicle officers were looking for.
This is the second time a Woburn police officer has been shot in the last year.
Parolee Domenic Cinelli killed Woburn police officer Jack Maguire during a robbery at a Kohl's department store in Woburn on Dec. 26, 2010. Cinelli was also killed in that shooting, which led to an overhaul of the state Parole Board.
