Manchester, NH Police Warn Of Scam That Led To Burglary
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Police are warning Manchester, N.H., residents about a scam that led to a home burglary.
Authorities say an 80-year-old woman reported that a man came to her door on Friday to say he would be cutting some of her neighbor's trees and that the work might involve branches hanging in her yard.
She went outside with him into the backyard to see the work but says after he left and she went inside, she noticed that jewelry and a safe had been stolen from her home.
She told police that she thinks the man distracted her while an accomplice went into her home and stole the items.
A neighbor reported to police that day that she had seen two men knocking at her door but that she did not answer.
