NH Apartment Hit By Bullets While 12-Year-Old Slept Inside
MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – Bullets flew in a New Hampshire neighborhood early Thursday morning, leaving holes in an apartment near where a 12-year-old boy was sleeping.
Manchester Police responded to Central Street between Union and Beech Streets around 12:30 a.m. Officers found bullet holes in the window of an apartment where a woman and her son live.
At least nine bullets came through the window. One hit the metal frame of the bed where the boy was sleeping just inches away.
The boy's frantic mother ran in to check on her child.
"My son was sleeping here," she said. "I said Jack, Jack are you OK?"
He was not injured, but she remains scared and confused.
"I don't know what happened, I don't know why," she said.
No one was injured by what police called a "reckless act."
Officers canvassed the neighborhood and spoke to several residents in the area. Multiple spent shell casings were found outside the apartment.
"We're actually hopeful that somebody in the public has a surveillance video somewhere in that area or someone was up looking out the window and may have seen a car, a person," said Manchester Police Lt. Brian O'Keefe.
No arrests have been made.
