Manchester, NH, Police Ask For Public's Help Solving Woman's Murder
MANCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – Investigators in New Hampshire continue to search for the person responsible for killing a 62-year-old woman who was out for a walk.
Sixty-two-year-old Denise Robert was well-liked in the Manchester community and as a longtime employee at the New Hampshire Union Leader she was also well-known.
On Sunday night, Robert was shot to death as she went on a fitness walk in the area of Ray and Carpenter Streets.
Her death has rocked the north end community that has few answers as to who is responsible or why it happened
A small roadside memorial now sits in the area on Ray Street where Robert's body was discovered.
Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and then seeing a dark older model pick-up truck speed away.
While the investigation is ongoing, officers continue to canvass the neighborhood hoping to ease residents' fears.
There is still a question of whether the shooting was random or if Robert was a target.
"The reason we're putting so much information out, which is very rare in a homicide case, is because I need information in," said Police Chief Nick Willard.
"So anybody that has surveillance video in this neighborhood anywhere down Union Street towards Webster Street. A speeding pick-up truck or even of the victim, if anyone had seen the victim. That's stuff we can then use to try to draw a conclusion."
The chief says Robert was not robbed and all of her belongings were still intact.
