Police Identify Man Who Refused To Talk After Arrest
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Authorities think they have identified a man who refused to speak after he was charged with trespassing in a small central Massachusetts town.
The man was found sleeping on the ground near a Warren business on Wednesday. After asking police if he would be arrested, he clammed up.
He refused to speak to police, a judge, or his court-appointed attorney and was sent to jail.
David Tuttle, a spokesman for the sheriff's department, tells The Telegram & Gazette that after being told he could be held up to 30 days, the man opened up over the weekend and identified himself as 19-year-old Walter Brown, of Bountiful, Utah. Tuttle says his story checked out.
How he ended up in Massachusetts in unclear. He is due in court on Monday.
