Man Stabbed At Stoughton Home Of UMass Boston Chancellor
STOUGHTON (CBS) -- A 20-year-old man was stabbed early Sunday morning, Stoughton Police Chief Donna McNamara said.
Police were called to a home on Palisades Circle around 2:48 a.m. Sunday, where they said a house party had been taking place.
It was later learned that the house where the incident happened is the residence of University of Massachusetts-Boston Chancellor J. Keith Motley.
The young man was taken to a hospital in Boston with serious injuries.
In a statement released Sunday afternoon, Chancellor Motley said he was not at the residence early Sunday.
"I have learned about an incident that occurred at my residence last night and am very concerned about it as well as the health of the young man who was injured. I was traveling and not home at the time, but I am returning as quickly as possible so that I can fully understand what happened and respond accordingly. I will have more to say at that time," Mr. Motley said.
Police are asking anyone who attended the party or who has any information about the stabbing to contact them.
Stoughton residents are shocked by the news.
"There's never been any break-ins. There's not been any violence around here."
One man who knows the neighborhood and family is surprised.
"They've lived for some quite some time. Never has there been anything like this. That's the shocking part is that they seem to be very very good citizens...very good people," Michael Ientile told WBZ.
Police are continuing their investigation and have made no arrests.
