Man Shot During Confrontation With Lowell Police
LOWELL, Mass. (AP) -- Police say officers investigating a report of domestic assault and battery involving a woman and her son at a Lowell home have shot and wounded an armed man at the center of the conflict.
Police say officers responding at the East Merrimac Street home encountered the armed man and shot him twice on Friday afternoon.
Capt. Thomas Kennedy says the man was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Boston for treatment. There was no immediate information on his condition.
The woman was not injured, but was taken to hospital for observations as a precaution.
Police did not immediately identify the man or his mother.
Public records show those living in the home include 80-year-old Joan Dolan and John Dolen.
Police and prosecutors are investigating.
